Parks and recreation grounds

Merton is one of the greenest boroughs in London – 18% of the Borough’s area is open space, compared to a 10% London average – with extensive parks, green and wild spaces, which offer recreation, contrast and structure to the Borough’s built environment..

Open spaces include Wimbledon Common, Mitcham Common, the National Trust’s Morden Hall Park and Cannizaro Park.

The Borough has declared 14 sites in Merton as local nature reserves, which are open to public access, including Merton’s schools for environmental education.

There are also many trails in Merton, allowing teachers and pupils to enjoy the outdoors throughout the year.
